Courtney Flint

Biography

Dr. Courtney Flint is a Professor of Natural Resource Sociology in the Department of Environment and Society at USU. Her research focuses on how communities and natural resource managers respond to changes in landscapes and waterscapes, including how they perceive and take action related to hazards and risks. She directs the Utah Wellbeing Project which assesses local wellbeing and perceptions of change across rural and urban communities. Residents in Utah communities typically value their relationships with nature, including wildlife, which can be affected by growth and disturbances such as fire, flooding, and drought. Dr. Flint teaches Human Dimensions of Natural Resources and emphasizes human-wildlife interactions and conflicts and ways to navigate diverse values, attitudes, and management preferences.
