Biography

Anna Miller is an Assistant Professor of Recreation Resource Management and the Environment in the Department of Environment and Society at Utah State University. She studies human dimensions of wildlife management, in the context of outdoor recreation and other stakeholders. Considering human-wildlife interactions as a social-ecological system, her work bridges fields such as recreation ecology, recreation social science, wildlife biology, disturbance ecology, environmental psychology, and environmental economics. To effectively address human dimensions of wildlife management challenges, she collaborates closely with practitioners to develop an understanding of research needs. Recent and current research projects include developing a better understanding of non-game recreation on Wildlife Management Areas (in collaboration with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources), and developing a social-ecological systems approach to managing for human-black bear interactions (in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources).
