Ryan Helcoski is PhD student studying the ecological legacy of elephant megacarcasses in Kruger National Park, South Africa. As a previous high school science teacher and Smithsonian researcher and curriculum planner, Ryan has sought to engage students of all ages in the process of science and scientific thinking. A Fulbright scholar and UPR science reporter, his current research focuses on not only a unique ecological phenomena but also highlights the role that humans play in savannah ecosystems.
