Jeremy's MS thesis research, he is exploring acoustic deterrents for controlling and disrupting coqui frogs (Eleutherodactylus coqui) in their non-native range in areas of Hawaii where they have become a significant invasive species. The male’s loud mating call (“ko-kee”), which can reach up to 90 dB, disrupts the quality of life for residents and affects native species. Jeremy will evaluate sound-based stimuli designed to disrupt coqui calling and behavior, as a potential tool for behavioral manipulation and population management.
