New Student Tasks
Information on how to complete onboarding requirements for all new students in the MDA program can be found on Canvas. 

Students will be added to Canvas in late April/early May. More information will be provided via email.

Orientation
Orientation information including the agenda, travel guidance, and pre-orientation assignments can be found on Canvas. 

Orientation will be August 3 - 6, 2026 at the USU Salt Lake Campus in Taylorsville.


Students who accept their offer to the USU MDA will secure their place with a $500 non-refundable deposit paid via PayPal or certified check.

Curriculum and SEL Rotation Overview

Clinical Rotation

During this SEL rotation, students will work side-by-side with a preceptor in a hospital and clinic.

Activities include writing patient notes (charting), conducting patient interviews and assessments, educating patients and counseling clients, and completing a case study presentation. 

Community Rotation

During the Community Nutrition SEL rotation, students will work at a variety of public health organizations including WIC.

Students will work with many different professionals to counsel and educate clients, create education materials, and participate in public health outreach. 

FSSM Rotation

The FSSM supervised experiential learning rotation will allow students to participate in the daily routine of running the National School Lunch Program.

Activities include menu planning, standardizing of recipes, audits, inventory management, and quality improvement projects.
