Space and Study Areas 

We have a warm inviting atmosphere with comfortable seating made for individual or group study. The first floor provides comfortable seating and group discussions and study. The second floor has several study areas for quiet, individual study and some comfy seating. 

Resources Available

The library collection includes materials on natural resources, forestry, environmental sciences, ecosystem management, parks and recreation, watershed sciences, wood products, animal studies, and marine, earth, and atmospheric sciences. All the items are searchable and can be checked out with a USU card. 

Advanced Research Skills

We provide assistance in locating materials on a topic or using the many online resources provided for your research and teaching needs. In-person or email help is available.

Where can I find you?

We are located on the Utah State University Campus. The address is 5260 Old Main Hill or use coordinates 41.74339,-111.80975 in your navigation app.

When are you open?

Our hours are dependent on the USU semester. During fall and spring semester we are open from Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. During summer semester and semester breaks we will close at 4:00pm. We are closed on weekends and all USU Holidays. 

How do I contact the library?

Is there free Wi-Fi in the library?

Quinney Library has wireless internet access inside and out. Guests can use the Eduroam server while on campus.

Do I need a library card to check out books?

The Quinney Library is open to all, but you will need to have USU affiliations in order to check out any material.

Are there any computers in the Quinney Library accessible to the public?

The library does not provide computers, printing, or laptops. Using your own devices? Library guests can access the internet through USU's wireless network using Eduroam and following the prompts. 

Where are the books?

The Quinney Library holds more that 3000 books and DVDs withing the building. Most of the books are on the second floor and shelved in call number order. The rest of the books, over 15,000, are in the BARN of the Merrill-Cazier Library.

How do I figure out what titles are housed in the Quinney Library?

Physical books and other material can be searched using the USU library catalog. Records in the catalog will include information on the location and an item-specific call number. Select Quinney Natural Resources Research Library in the dropdown menu to further filter the search results. 

What are the circulation policies for the Quinney Library?

The Quinney Library abides by the same circulation policies in place at the Merrill-Cazier Library. Use the LibAnswer service to find your specific answer. 

How can I reserve the Conference Room in the library?

To reserve the conference room for a specific time and date, call 435-797-2452 or visit QLIB105 and speak with the staff. The room is equipped with a monitor and a computer as well as the cables necessary to connect your laptop to the monitor.

I would like to donate books to the library. How should I proceed?

The library solicits and welcomes gifts of books, documents, and items in other formats, as well as gifts of money for the purchase of library materials. Please call 435-797-2452 for more information.

Can we have food in the library?

Non-alcoholic beverages and refreshments are allowed in the library if it does not interfere with library operations and the space is cleaned appropriately afterwards. Any spills or other issues should be reported to library staff. 

I would like to host an event in the library, who can I talk to about this?

Library spaces may be used for small events, class periods, and club activities. Email quinney.library@usu.edu to requests more information. 

When was the library built and who is it for?

The library opened its doors in October of 1992. USU students, faculty, and staff have full access to the library resources. The community is welcome in the library and may use the resources on-site. Funding is provided by the S.J. and Jessie E. Quinney Foundation. Read more about the foundation from out About page.  

Where does the name Quinney come from?

The library was built thanks to the support of the S.J. and Jessie E. Quinney Foundation in Salt Lake City Utah. The Foundation was established by Joe Quinney and his wife Jessie Eccles Quinney. Read more about out benefactors.
