Emmet Sweeney

Emmet is a senior at the University of Idaho majoring in Forestry and minoring in Ecology. They are originally from Loveland, Colorado. They joined UFRI for the 2026 field season and have worked as a timber cruiser traveling from Oregon to Montana, a conifer nursery irrigator in Idaho, a reforestation technician in northern California, and most recently as a fire ecology lab assistant back in Idaho. In their spare time, they can be found sketching, playing D&D with friends, strumming the guitar, and road tripping around looking for cool new trees, plants, and birds. They hope to pursue a career in forest restoration and research, with a particular interest in how forest regeneration dynamics may change with more frequent high-severity fires and climate change.
