Graduate Faculty

Students are accepted into the graduate programs with a temporary advisor. By the end of the second semester (MS) or third semester (PhD), students need to establish a Supervisory Committee that will approve a Program of Study and the MS/PhD thesis/dissertation research project.

To begin forming a committee, students should contact their temporary advisor for chair and committee member suggestions. It is the student's responsibility to contact the proposed chair and committee members to make certain they are willing to serve prior to completing the Supervisory Committee Approval Form. On an MS committee three committee members are required, on a PhD committee five members are required. In both instances the chair must be a member of the ASTE Graduate Faculty, other members may come from the department along with one member from another department serving as the "outside member." The form will require each members signature (collected by the School of Graduate Studies electronically).
