Councils and Clubs

In the S.J. & Jessie E. Quinney College of Natural Resources there are many student organizations that enhance your university experience.  By becoming involved, you will have opportunities to learn new things, meet people, have fun, participate in leadership roles, and prepare for your career in natural resources. Every students should plan to become involved in at least one club during their undergraduate career. All clubs are open to interested students from all backgrounds and perspectives. To get involved with the club of your choice, send an email to the club or club president listed below. Also, weekly club activities will be announced on the QCNR announcements list serve.

To request funding from the QCNR dean's office, current clubs show follow these guidelines.

American Fisheries Society (Student Subunit, Utah Chapter)
The student subunit of the American Fisheries Society is a group of undergraduate and graduate students who have an interest in fisheries and aquatic ecology.

The mission of the American Fisheries Society is to improve the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems by advancing fisheries adn aquatic science and promoting the development of fisheries professionals.

Berryman Institute

The Berryman Institute Working Group is an student-led organization dedicated to improving human-wildlife relationships and managing human-wildlife conflicts through teaching, research and extension. Members of the institute hope to foster a welcoming and inclusive community where individuals can come together to explore, share, and celebrate their passions. Through collaboration, education, and meaningful connections, we aim to inspire personal growth, cultivate creativity, and empower members to make a positive impact within our club and beyond.

Berryman Institute

Fire Club (Student chapter of the Association for Fire Ecology)
Founded in spring of 2018, the USU Fire Club strives to bring opportunities to students who are interested in a variety of aspects of wildfire from fire suppression to research. We seek to learn more about fire ecology and dynamics, as well as provide career boosting workshops, potential for certification, and opportunities to get hands-on experience in the field.

AANRRS
The mission of AANRRS is to promote academic and professional advancement by empowering individuals in agriculture, natural resources, and related sciences. It is a national organization that welcomes all undergraduate and graduate students with career interests in agriculture, natural resources, and related sciences. Regional and national conferences provide students with opportunities to present research, compete in various career and leadership development events, develop career and personal connections, and network with companies and government agencies from across the country seeking individuals to work for them.

Sigma Alpha Sorority
Sigma Alpha is a professional agricultural and natural resources sorority that focuses on cultivating a positive and supportive environment for women in agricultural and natural resources and related industries. Members of the sorority will benefit from networking, building their leadership skills, improving their teamwork and communication expertise, and serving the community together. There are scholarships available as well as opportunities to network at regional and national conferences.
