USU/Bureau of Land Management Wildfire Crew Student Recruitment

Student Activities

The USU Wildland Fire Club is sponsoring an opportunity with the BLM Fire Management Officer from the West Desert District (Salt Lake City) in-person in the QCNR Atrium. BLM is looking to hire ADs to back fill on engines and going out on a 20-person hand crew this coming summer. This is an opportunity for students to receive an Incident Qualification Card (Red Card) and some wildland fire experience.

WILD Seminar Series with Aishwarya Chandrasekaran

Dr. Aishwarya Chandrasekaran is a lecturer in the Department of Environment and Society where she teaches courses intersecting remote sensing, AI and society. She is also affiliated with the Online Remote Sensing and GeoAI certificate program at QCNR. She got her PhD from Purdue University in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources where her work focused on using Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and machine learning modelling to study forest ecosystems, with an emphasis on improving the accuracy and efficiency of tree species classification. Her research contributes to improving forest management practices by providing detailed, tree-level data using advanced geospatial technologies.
