Welcome to the Center
The Center for Large Animal Translational Sciences is a leading center in large animal assisted reproduction and genetic engineering. With expertise in embryo transfer, nuclear transfer, gene editing, and large animal developmental biology, CLATS researchers are able to provide exceptional service in utilizing this next generation tool to provide highly efficient and rapid gene selection and modification.
Mission
Our mission is to provide biomedical large animal models for human disease that ultimately will benefit our society with a broader knowledge and open paths to their cure.
Who We Are
CLATS is an academic-based center funded by XXX that aims the production of large animal models - cattle, sheep, and goats - for human diseases or other agriculture and medical applications.
The CLATS was established in 202X to develop the infrastructure to ensure that agricultural and biomedical researchers have access to crucially required sheep, goat, or cattle models of human health and disease. Our center will also provide a central resource for cryopreserved tissue samples, the production of new genetically modified sheep, goats, and cattle, information, and training.
Our accomplishment mission is to provide genetic engineering and cloning technologies in the generation of genetically modified animals that will ultimately support research that is unable to accomplish in humans and go beyond the limitation of the small animals. Sheep and goats are very suitable models of humans due to their genomic similarities and proportions of the body and organ sizes. Cattle are a handful of platforms for large production of biotherapeutic proteins for biomedical research as well as resistance to pathogens in agriculture.
