Biography

Dr. Aishwarya Chandrasekaran is a lecturer in the Department of Environment and Society where she teaches courses intersecting remote sensing, AI and society. She is also affiliated with the Online Remote Sensing and GeoAI certificate program at QCNR. She got her PhD from Purdue University in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources where her work focused on using Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and machine learning modelling to study forest ecosystems, with an emphasis on improving the accuracy and efficiency of tree species classification. Her research contributes to improving forest management practices by providing detailed, tree-level data using advanced geospatial technologies.

Teaching Interests

Dr. Chandrasekaran’s teaching expertise and interests encompass fundamental remote sensing, spatial visualization, geospatial programming, GeoAI and digital data acquisition for environmental applications. She integrates traditional classroom instruction with applied learning by collaborating with the Climate Adaptation Intern Program to support real-world geospatial visualization projects.
