Biography

My passion revolves around improving farmers’ well-being and quality of life. Working on my family's farm in Southeastern Illinois taught me that farming is not just a job, but a way of life. I strive to make farming operations safer and more efficient. My expertise is agricultural systems automation for agronomic operations and agricultural safety and health applications.

Teaching Interests

I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in agricultural systems technology and research methods.

Research Interests

My concentrated area of research focuses on the automation of agricultural systems. Specifically, precision pesticide application from aerial and ground unoccupied vehicles. I also work on automated incident detection and response technologies, such as wearable devices, for agricultural workers.

Graduate Student Mentoring Philosophy

My mentoring philosophy emphasizes cultivating innovation, critical thinking, and an inclusive environment where graduate students in agricultural systems technology can thrive. I focus on recognizing the diversity of student backgrounds and fostering a culture of mutual respect and collaboration. This approach prepares students for academic success and future leadership roles in the field.

I provide tailored guidance to align with individual student goals and the broader needs of agricultural systems technology, encouraging interdisciplinary projects and hands-on learning. Regular feedback sessions offer constructive criticism and celebrate achievements, promoting professional growth. By connecting students with industry and academic networks, I aim to broaden their opportunities and equip them for significant contributions to the field and society.
