Biography
Joseph Okoh is an Assistant Professor of Small Acreage Livestock in the Department of Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Sciences at Utah State University, where he began his tenure in 2024. Prior to this, he was an Associate Professor of Animal Genetics and Breeding at the Federal University of Kashere. Dr. Okoh's research interests include both qualitative and quantitative breeding, as well as genetic studies of diverse livestock species to enhance animal production. His work covers genomic evaluations of fertility in dairy herds, monogastric livestock nutrition, and the phenotypic characterization of livestock breeds for further genetic analysis. Additionally, he is involved in training, program planning, and extension services aimed at developing small-acreage livestock operations. Dr. Okoh also held the position of Head of the Animal Science Department at the Federal University of Kashere, Nigeria, from 2019 to 2023.
