Outreach & Engagement

Like most researchers at Land Grant universities, the work we do is solutions-oriented. Our research is only useful if we can successfully share it with the land managers, homeowners, and others we hope will benefit. For that reason, we put a premium on outreach and public engagement – not only to share our own research results but also those of other scientists like ourselves. Here are a few of the projects where we have taken part in outreach and engagement:

Great Basin Fire Science Exchange

GBFSE is one of 15 regional exchanges across the U.S. that bring land managers and scientists together to increase awareness, understanding, adoption, and implementation of wildland fire science information.

Sagebrush Steppe Treatment Evaluation Project (SageSTEP)

Designed by scientists in collaboration with land managers, SageSTEP is a regionwide experiment to evaluate methods of sagebrush shrubland restoration in the Great Basin.

Canyonlands Research Center

Located on the Nature Conservancy’s Dugout Ranch in southeastern Utah, USU is a partner in the center which supports research, education, and collaboration to understand how climate and land use interact to affect ecosystems of the Colorado Plateau.
