Sagebrush People Reading Group

Meeting

Student discussion group open to anyone who considers themselves remotely connected to sagebrush systems.

Within the QCNR (and beyond) there are a lot of research project across the West that are directly or indirectly related to sagebrush. These meetings present a fantastic opportunity for USU students, faculty, and staff to periodically get together and discuss topics and interests from across the natural resources spectrum. Topics will cover many aspects of sagebrush landscapes, plant-soil interactions, human recreation, sagebrush restoration, mammals, invertebrates, etc.

This week, Ruger Carter and Melissa Chelak will start off the dicussion on the impacts of single-species management on pinyon jays.

New Strategies for Public Space About the Lecture: What are the imperatives for a healthy public realm? Join Jim Burnett, FASLA, founding partner of the award-winning landscape practice OJB as he shares six strategies from the firm’s recent work, which form the basis of an engaged public realm. As our planet continues to transform, landscape architects have a vital role to play in helping to create, restore and sustain natural environments that support and build community. Burnett’s evidence-based practice combines urban planning, parks, public gardens and open space design, together with research, to consider what sustainable development looks like for a changing world.

Halloween Bike Ride

Student Activities

Join Backcountry Squatters and Aggie Blue Bikes on a fun Halloween-themed bike ride around Logan! This event is open to anyone and everyone in the Logan community. There will be a costume contest for participants with prizes for the winners! We will be meeting at 5:00 PM on October 30th in front of Aggie Blue Bikes and ending in downtown Logan. We look forward to seeing you there!
