USU is Helping Support Utah’s Favorite Fish

By Lael Gilbert

Students from the Quinney College of Agriculture and Natural Resources got their feet wet this summer — literally — with the Utah Division of Natural Resources, monitoring population of cutthroat trout.

The college’s summer internship and seasonal employment partner program connects students with state and federal agencies and nonprofit organizations, offering students the chance to apply their newfound knowledge with on-the-ground experience. It lets students to build professional skills, gain practical knowledge and focus their career trajectories.

This program also allows agencies and other organizations make direct connections with qualified, energetic, engaged summer employees who are ready to join the professional workforce. It’s one of the many ways that USU collaborates with state and federal agencies to solve environmental issues on Utah lands.
