Internships are a critical step in discovering your career passion, landing meaningful career opportunities, and giving you a competitive edge at graduation. Students who participate in internship opportunities will gain practical skills and hands-on educational experiences. They will work closely with professionals to apply the skills they learned in the classroom while being introduced to professional practice and the rigors of the workplace. As a result of their internship experience, students return assuming leadership roles, advanced skills, a greater understanding of professional practice, and clarified career goals.

Quinney Internship Program
We partner with the U.S. Forest Service, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, Utah Forestry, Fire and State Lands, National Parks and non-profit agencies to provide valuable professional experience to students during the summer. Internships are an integral part of our college program and help students begin to build professional experience as soon as their freshman year.
Internships are open to all undergraduate students enrolled in any of the majors within the Quinney College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Beginning in 2025, summer interns will enroll in a one-credit 7-week Spring course (NR 4251) to help prepare for their internship and a one-credit 7-week Fall course (NR 4252) to reflect on and communicate their internship achievements. Students may also choose to earn course credit during their summer internship.
The Quinney Internship Program is supported in part by donors and partner organizations. If your organization is interested in joining the Quinney Internship Program to support paid student internships, please contact us

The USGS/TNC Moab internship was definitely the best field work experience I’ve ever had. Not only were all the people incredibly motivated and fun to work with, but made sure that I got what I wanted out of the internship and that I knew what the data was being used for. I was able to work on so many different projects and see what large scale research looks like at each step of the research process. I learned so many valuable skills both in the field and in the office. I also got to live in one of the most incredible and beautiful places in the world.
