Ecology Center Workshop: Introduction to Google Earth Engine

Workshop/Training

Please join us for our seventh coding workshop in our new coding workshop series on Tuesday March 14th from 3:00 - 5:00 PM MT in NR 217. This workshop is for folks who are interested in getting introduced to the basics of the cloud-based remote sensing platform Google Earth Engine (GEE). GEE is a powerful tool for research, providing access to massive open-source spatial datasets (e.g. satellite imagery, climate, topography, land use/landcover, among many others), with access to Google's high power computing resources to perform complex analyses. This workshop will cover: a) What is GEE and how does it differ from other GIS platforms? b) Intro to JavaScript and the GEE API c) Importing and visualizing a satellite image d) Importing, filtering, and visualizing image collections e) Accessing information about datasets

Ecology Center Workshop: Wrangling and analyzing spatial data in R

Workshop/Training

Please join us for the eighth coding workshop in the Ecology Center's ongoing coding workshop series on Tuesday March 21st from 3:00 - 5:00 PM MT in NR 217. Have you taken a GIS class before and want to apply the concepts you learned to R? Have you never taken a GIS class at all? Then this workshop is for you! In this workshop we will cover the basics of GIS in R, how to load, manipulate, and save vector and raster data, and how to perform any quantitative calculation and analysis on spatial data in R.

Automotive - Visual Inspection Workshop

Workshop/Training

Come learn how to inspect your vehicle, what to issues to look for, and how to perform general maintenance on your vehicle We will be performing visual inspections on various vehicles and discussing what to look for. We will talk about fluid types, levels and leaks as well as safety features including brakes. We will also go over how to perform general maintenance including changing oil and tires. Will be held at the Auto Shop at Grand County High School - TSAC building

Ecology Center Workshop: Visualizing spatial data in R

Workshop/Training

Please join us for the ninth coding workshop in the Ecology Center's coding workshop series on Tuesday March 28th from 3:00 - 5:00 PM MT in NR 217. Equally important to analyzing spatial data is being able to visually display results. Maps and visual representations of data are critical to communicating spatial information quickly and clearly. This workshop is for folks who are interested in learning how to create informative and aesthetically interesting plots of spatial data in R. This workshop will cover: a) Short review on importing, wrangling, and manipulating spatial data using the sf() package b) Basic principles of good map-making c) Mapping vector and raster data using tmap() and ggplot() d) Basic sf() functions for extracting data stats from map layers e) Creating maps interactive maps with tmap()
