Monday, March 24th
-Breakfast with the Dean: 9:30am -11am
Swing by the NR Patio for a free breakfast of pancakes, sausage, and fruit-by the NR Student Council and our very own Dean Nagel
-Yoga: 11am -12pm
Drop by for an hour of relaxing and grounding yoga and meditation exercises. Bring a yoga mat or towel.

Tuesday, March 25th

-Tacos & Trivia: 6pm-8pm, NR 105
Get some Navajo tacos to support the Native American Student Council (NASC). Then stay for trivia. Show off your knowledge and win prizes!

Enjoy a dinner in support of our amazing student clubs and stay for an open-mic night (bring your own acoustic instrument). Meal tickets $5 for kids and $10 for adults. All proceeds go to our QCNR student organizations. Families welcome.

Spring Runoff Conference

The USU Spring Runoff Conference is an annual gathering that provides a forum for interdisciplinary sharing of ideas on water-related issues in Utah and the Intermountain Region extending to all aspects of water science, ecology, policy, engineering, and management. We invite students, faculty, consulting and government agency professionals as well as environmental and citizen organizations to participate.

USU and the Northern Utah Water Users are again combining for the 2025 conference, which will be held March 25-26, 2025. This two-day conference will feature invited speakers, student presentations, and multiple opportunities to connect.

With this year’s conference theme, Advancing Solutions for Policy, Innovation, and Sustainability, we join the Utah Water Research Laboratory (UWRL) in celebrating its 60th anniversary while looking to the future of research and water management in an era of unprecedented challenges. By establishing the UWRL 60 years ago, the state of Utah recognized the important contribution of research for managing our scarce water resources. With growth and environmental change, this research remains critical and the UWRL looks forward to serving the state.

On March 25, the event will be held at the Cache County Event Center. On March 26, it will be held on campus at the Eccles Conference Center.

Dr. Gordon Luikart

The Ecology Center is excited to announce our March seminar speaker: Dr. Gordon Luikart, professor of Conservation Ecology and Genetics from the Flathead Lake Bio Station at the University of Montana.

Dr. Luikart will be presenting a seminar on Wednesday (3/26) and participating in a moderated discussion on Thursday (3/27)—both will be held from 4-5 PM in BNR 102.

From Dr. Luikart:
"My general research interests are in conservation biology, population genetics, and ecology. My primary research applies genetics to the conservation of natural and managed populations. My research applies principles and tools of population genetics/omics to fish, wildlife, and a variety of other taxa, including invasive species and parasites that are threatening native ecosystems and regional economies. My lab aims to develop and apply novel field sampling methods, DNA typing techniques, and data analysis approaches to understand landscape connectivity, adaptation to climate change, invasive species control (including pathogens), and the negative effects of inbreeding depression and hybridization on individual fitness and population viability."

Master of Public Health (MPH) in Veterinary Public Health Virtual Open House

Information/Orientation

The College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences offers a 100% online Master of Public Health (MPH) in Veterinary Public Health. The program is holding a Virtual Open House that will include a program overview and Q&A session on March 27, 2025, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Mountain Time. A recording will be available afterward for individuals who register but are not able to attend live. The program provides interdisciplinary training that integrates veterinary sciences with core public health principles. Develop essential skills to monitor and control public health threats by understanding disease transmission among humans, animals, and the environment and receive specialized training in the emerging public health discipline of One Health.
