Forster Lecture Series
Craig B. Forster received B. Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in hydrogeology at the University of British Columbia and a M. Sc degree from the University of Waterloo. Craig was a faculty member in the Geology Department at Utah State University prior to becoming a consulting geologist studying groundwater flow in mountain terrains, air quality issues and carbon dioxide sequestration. He collaborated with Jim Evans and USU graduate students throughout much of his career. Craig was a member of the College of Architecture & Planning and the first Director of the Office of Sustainability at the University of Utah. In this position he did much to help the University to become more “climate neutral,” including the development of a cogeneration energy plant, recycling programs and more efficient watering systems. Craig died in a hiking accident in Zion Canyon National Park in 2008.
