Undergraduate Scholarships

Scholarship Name Description
Clyde T. Hardy Memorial Field Camp Scholarship                                                                                                             The Clyde T. Hardy Memorial Field Camp Scholarship was developed to honor the former department head and professor. The scholarship is awarded every other year to an outstanding undergraduate geology major to assist with the expense of attending geology field camp. 
David Rider Memorial Scholarship The David Rider Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of David by his mother, Virginia R. Scott. This award is given to undergraduate geology students with at least junior-level standing and a 3.2 overall GPA.
Donald W. Fiesinger Award The Donald W. Fiesinger Award was developed to honor Don's many years of service to the Department of Geology and the College of Science. The award is given to a graduating senior who has made outstanding contributions to the department's activities and program.
Jamison Geoscience Education Scholarship This scholarship will support undergraduate students of the Geo Department. These students will either 1) major in Earth Science Teaching, 2) be involved in local or Utah Geology or paleontology research, or 3) participate in community outreach through the Geo Department, which can include working in or through the Museum of Geology.
John M. Branch Memorial Scholarship The John M. Branch Memorial Scholarship was developed to honor the memory of John Branch and assist undergraduate geology students attending Utah State University.
Michael Varge Lowe Scholarship for Academic Success This scholarship will be awarded to junior-level Geo Major(s) who is going into their Senior year. Preference will be given to the student(s) with the highest overall GPA. The scholarship will be utilized to fully support cost of attendance (tuition, course fees, books) annually (Fall and Spring semesters).
Peter T. Kolesar Scholarship The Peter T. Kolesar Scholarship was developed to honor Peter’s many contributions to the Department of Geology and its students. The scholarship is awarded to upper-division geology undergraduate students in good standing, particularly those experiencing financial need.
Thomas A. Riemondy Memorial Scholarship The Thomas A. Riemondy Memorial Scholarship was developed by Thomas's parents, Mary E. and Brigadier General Augustus A. Riemondy to honor their son. It is awarded to a nonresident geology undergraduate student.

Graduate or Undergraduate Scholarships

Scholarship Name Description
Robert Q. Oaks, Jr. Scholarship The Robert Q. Oaks, Jr. Scholarship was developed to recognize Bob’s dedication and excellence in teaching and challenging all his students. The scholarship will assist undergraduate and graduate students who are nearing the completion of their degrees at USU.
Springer Memorial Scholarship This award supports undergraduate and graduate geology majors. Undergraduate recipients must have at least junior-level standing. Recipients must demonstrate excellence in academic achievement.
Summit Fund The Summit Fund was established to provide scholarship support for USU Geology graduate and undergraduate students and to honor the work of the late Craig B. Forster.

Graduate Scholarships

Scholarship Name Description
Benchmark Fund The Geosciences Alumni Advisory Board initiated the Benchmark Fund in 2009; this fund helps us provide critical support to our graduate students.
J. Stewart Williams Graduate Fellowship The J. Stewart Williams Graduate Fellowship was developed to honor the memory of this former faculty member, department head, and graduate dean of Utah State University. The endowment provides support for summer research expenses incurred by graduate students.
Kim R. Robeson Memorial Award The award provides support of non-class-related trips for graduate students, including trips organized by student groups, particularly to help with expenses related to thesis laboratory and field work.
Logan Canyon Fund: Galloway-Cooley Scholarship This fund has been thoughtfully created by alumni along with Jim and Susanne to support scholarships and research funding for graduate students in Geosciences.
Logan Canyon Fund:
Evans-Jänecke Fund		 This fund has been thoughtfully created by alumni along with Jim and Susanne to support scholarships and research funding for graduate students in Geosciences.
Peter R. McKillop Memorial Scholarship The award will go to a graduate student who, like Peter, has a strong academic record and is not already well funded.
Keith Miller Graduate Scholarship This award provides support for graduate students.
Karen C. Rice Scholarship This award provides support for graduate students currently engaged in thesis or dissertation work.
